Meet Emil Andersson – Project Manager

Project Manager Emil Andersson first crossed paths with Swedish Hydro Solutions back in 2018, and in 2019 he became one of the company’s earliest employees. At the time, Emil was working at Ahlsell, selling all kinds of equipment to a group of “water treatment guys in high-vis jackets” from a company just down the street. When his temporary contract came to an end, a service technician position opened up at Swedish Hydro Solutions. A bit of research, a look at the website and a few conversations later — the decision was made. Emil joined as employee number seven.

Emil came on board as a service technician at a time when projects were starting to come in earnest. The company had just signed a long-term agreement with NCC for the Västlänken project E02 Centralen, giving Swedish Hydro Solutions the stability to push forward with confidence.

What was it like in the early days?

— Andreas, Ahmad and Erik had been there for about six months, and Oskar started two weeks before me. Therese, who is now our QEHS manager, had just finished her internship and gone back to school. Let’s just say the routines weren’t exactly crystal clear back then, Emil laughs.

At the same time, Emil found himself with the opportunity to learn about everything — all at once.

— I built filters, handled some purchasing and went out to the sites to meet customers in person. And every project had its own unique challenges. At Västlänken Centralen, the clay excavations produced a lot of sediment. At Esperantoplatsen and Hamnbanan we dealt with drill cuttings, and at the new hospital area in Malmö there were chlorinated contaminants and a limestone bedrock to contend with.

Emil kept picking up new knowledge along the way, and his experience in the field made him a key contributor when it came to writing service routines, developing products and documenting tests. The administrative side of things was always something he enjoyed as well. Eventually, Emil made it clear that he wanted to take the next step and become a full-time project manager.

How did you make the move to PM?

— We’ve never hired people just for the sake of it, Emil explains. If I became a project manager, we’d be short a service technician — so we had to wait for the right moment.
For quite some time, Emil held a split role — 50% project manager and 50% service technician. In February 2026, the timing was finally right, and Emil has been a full-time project manager ever since.

— My first solo project was out at the old factory site in Gamlestaden in Gothenburg, where we treated PFAS-contaminated water. I also ran a pilot plant for Ovako and a project for a plant nursery. Things are moving!
