Meet our intern, Alexander Kindbom

From time to time, we are joined by students completing internships or LIA (Learning in Work) placements here at Swedish Hydro Solutions. One of them is Alexander Kindbom, who studied to become a water and wastewater engineer in Gothenburg and completed his first internship with us at Swedish Hydro Solutions.

In addition to his studies, Alexander has a background as a structural metalworker and — if he’s allowed to boast a little — he has produced steel structures for the new Munch Museum in Norway. He has also worked as a tradesperson, involved in chimney renovations, fireplace installations, and ventilation work.

What made you apply for an internship at Swedish Hydro Solutions?
– I wanted to stay close to where I live, so I simply did a quick Google search to see which companies in Alingsås worked with water. I found your website and started reading. My first thought was that I probably didn’t have enough knowledge to fit in, and it felt like a bit of a long shot when I sent that email to your then‑CEO, Leo.
But I got a quick response, was invited for a visit, and after that I had a really good feeling that this was where I wanted to do my internship — and I haven’t regretted it for a second. I absolutely love it here.

What have you been able to do during your internship?

– What haven’t I done? Jokes aside — a bit of everything. I’ve gotten hands‑on experience with manufacturing products, replacing components, taking things apart and putting them back together, and doing troubleshooting, customer visits, and more. I also joined a three‑day installation at another site, where I got to see the entire process from preparation and packing to the actual deployment. I was involved in everything from unloading the truck to setting up the equipment and assembling the pipe systems.

I’ve learned that you’re never too old to pick up new skills, and that there truly are no bad questions. Everyone at Swedish Hydro has genuinely taken the time to share their knowledge and answer my questions. It’s sparked discussions where you bounce ideas off each other and find different solutions to the challenges that come up — which is fantastic to see. You’re all passionate knowledge‑carriers, and it really shows.

Is there anything specific you’ll take with you going forward?

– I’ll take a lot with me from different parts of the internship, even if I’ve only scratched the surface. Above all, I’ve expanded my knowledge of solutions within mobile water treatment and its processes.

– I’ve also learned the importance of finding solutions — sometimes you just have to try things, even when you think they won’t work, and it turns out to be the optimal solution after all.

– And the sense of community is something I’ll carry with me as well. There’s a genuinely high level of teamwork here — people help each other and back each other up in so many ways.

Meet Magnus Bernhardsson

Magnus är snickaren och husbilsmekanikern som bytte spår och blev servicetekniker inom vattenrening. Sedan han började på företaget 2020 har han tagit steget till rollen som första tekniker, tack vare sin omfattande praktiska kunskap inom vattenrening.

I över 15 år har Lina arbetat som konsult inom miljökontroll och länsvattenfrågor. I början av 2022 valde hon att ta steget till Swedish Hydro Solutions, där hennes kombination av miljökompetens, projektledarerfarenhet och stora nätverk snabbt ledde till en ansvarsfull roll inom företaget.
